SERENITY BIBLE STUDY, SHALL WE?
SERENITY
WHAT IS SERENITY?
Serenity ... It is a word
that means to be at PEACE within.
Even the word sounds
peaceful, does it not?
The dictionary defines
serenity as ... The absence of mental stress or anxiety.
Wow ... Now that sounds
sweet.
But in today's world, it is
oft times very difficult to obtain and in particular to
maintain that inner peace and serenity isn't it?
Let's look at what the Bible
has to say about being at Peace and what we can do to obtain
and maintain this Peace within.
We are taught that when we
are worldly minded, that we are dead within but when we are
Spiritually minded, we are able to obtain this Peace.

Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be
spiritually minded is life and peace. |
Peace is more
than a pretty word ...
It is a REALM
...
|
Luke 17:20-21
And when He was questioned of the Pharisees, when the
Kingdom of God
should come,
He answered
them and said, The
Kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the Kingdom of
God
IS WITHIN YOU ... |
This realm that we are speaking of is much
like being IN LOVE, is it not? It is
not just a state of mind. But rather an actual Spiritual
place that our soul resides within us.
This
Spiritual realm is a sanctuary within us that we can enter
just by accepting the PEACE that the Lord left us.

John 14:26-27
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom
the Father will send in my name, He shall teach
you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU, MY PEACE I GIVE TO YOU:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let
not your heart be troubled, neither let it be
afraid. |
Jesus IS our peace ...

Ephesians 2:13-14
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were
far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
For HE IS OUR PEACE, who hath made both one, and
hath broken down the middle wall of partition
between us; |

2 Thessalonians
3:16
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace
always by all means. The Lord be with you all. |
We are to be Peacemakers.

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for
they shall be called the children of God. |
Righteous fruits begin with
Peace within.
|
James 3:18
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace
of them that make peace. |
Peace
is one of the fruits of the Spirit.
|
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, PEACE,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no
law. |
We need to allow peace to rule our
hearts.
|
Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to
the which also ye are called in one body; and be
ye thankful. |
We
are to try and live in peace with everyone.
|
2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of
good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and
the God of love and peace shall be with you. |
Not only are we to obtain and maintain Peace within
ourselves, but we are also taught to preach the Gospel
of Peace to others.

Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent?
as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of
them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring
glad tidings of good things! |
We can keep unity and Spirit within the Body
of Christ by using Peace.
|
Ephesians 4:1-3
I therefore, the prisoner
of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of
the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all
lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,
forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to
keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace. |
Follow after anything that brings forth
Peace.

Romans 14:19
Let us therefore follow after the things which
make for peace, and things wherewith one may
edify another. |
When
you feel overcome ...
Ponder
on this.
|
SERENITY PRAYER |
|
God
grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen. |
I sincerely hope
that you choose to seek and do find this realm of Peace.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye
shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto
you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he
that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh
it shall be opened.
