John 8:1-11
Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the
morning he came again into the temple, and all the
people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught
them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a
woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in
the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was
taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the
law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what
sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they
might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and
with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he
heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he
lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is
without sin among you, let him
first cast a stone at
her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own
conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the
eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone,
and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had
lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said
unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord.
And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee:
go, and sin no more.
|
Tho
the Religious leaders of the time wanted to use LAW to
condemn this woman, Jesus chose to bestow Love and Grace.
But, I
have a question for you today
We have
discovered that we are NOT to judge as we know very well
what Jesus said when a woman was caught in the ACTUAL ACT of
adultery
|
John 8:7
He
that is without
sin among
you, let him first
cast a
stone at her. |
But tell me
If a person is
having sexual talks with someone else and one or other is
married
Is it deemed as being adultery since Jesus said:
|
Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a
woman to lust
after her hath committed
adultery with
her already in his heart. |
Meaning if we even think lustful thoughts of someone and one
or other is married, tho nothing physical was done, we ARE
committing adultery.
So
again, we seek not to judge but are simply looking into a
matter.
CAST THE FIRST STONE WARNING AND CAST THE FIRST STONE
DANGERS WITH CAST THE FIRST STONE MESSAGE
NOW
What if that same woman who was forgiven of the sin of
adultery steps out and condemns another for the same crime
or something else they deem as a sin and show no mercy? What
does the Bible share about this? Well most remember this
question from Peter and the answer from Jesus:
|
Matthew 18:21-22
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall
my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till
seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto
thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times
seven.
|
We
know that we are to forgive those who sin against us. Even
tho it may hard at times. But
Jesus told a parable
afterward further explaining what He meant
I will share
the story in short sections.
|
Matthew 18:23-35
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto
a certain king, which would take account of his
servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was
brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded
him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all
that he had, and payment to be made.
The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him,
saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay
thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with
compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
But the same servant went out, and found one of his
fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and
he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat,
saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant
fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have
patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
And he would not: but went and cast him into prison,
till he should pay the debt. So when his
fellowservants saw what was done, they were very
sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was
done.
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto
him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that
debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou
also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as
I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and
delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay
all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my
heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your
hearts forgive not every one his brother their
trespasses. |
So we
see that in our scenario of the woman who was caught in the
act of adultery and forgiven of her sins but chose to step
out and condemn another for some other sin she felt they
were committing was not only wrong of her to do, but
DANGEROUS to her own soul.
This
is why we should show MERCY and not judgment to all we
encounter.
I have
found that the ones that show compassion, forgiveness,
understanding and MERCY the most, are those who have been
forgiven much by our Lord. Here is another parable shared by
Jesus
|
Luke 7:41-47
There was a certain creditor which had two debtors:
the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave
them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love
him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he,
to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou
hast rightly judged. And he turned to the woman, and
said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into
thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but
she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them
with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss:
but this woman since the time I came in hath not
ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst
not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with
ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which
are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: BUT TO
WHOM LITTLE IS FORGIVEN, THE SAME LOVETH LITTLE.
|
So, I
started wondering
Who
would ever believe that the Lord had only forgiven them
little
I know
we are all sinners and we are ALL forgiven much, so this
made me wonder why someone would believe they were forgiven
little.
Then
it hit me.
They
must not believe they have sinned at times when they did
and/or just feel their crime was so little.
So, it
seems to me that in order to LOVE a lot and show MERCY, we
must remember that we were truly forgiven a LOT before we
step out and try and
