            Welcome back to Daily Bread and good to see you again to join us as we begin our study of the third book of Moses called Leviticus.  You may have noticed that the word Leviticus contains the word Levi in it, which leads one to think that this book is all about the tribe of Levi, or the "Levites" ... however ... this book is about the service of the priesthood, and being that God gave Aaron and his descendents the ministry of priesthood, and Aaron was from the tribe of Levi, the English title is Leviticus.  The Hebrew title is actually translated "And He Called."  In essence, the book is the law of the priests and the law of the offerings.  The book of Leviticus is God's constitution for His holy nation.

            Now, these laws and offerings were all part of the Old Testament, written and intended for the Hebrews and the New Testament that the world received from God through Jesus Christ, abolished the Old Testament, therefore, making it null and void.  If you are interested in studying the different laws and/or offerings, this is a basic table of contents for the book of Leviticus for you to use as a guide to your research.
