SONG MESSAGE
So nice to have you back again to share more
Daily Bread. As you recall, when we ended our study of the last chapter,
Moses had just written and taught the children of Israel the song that
God told him to teach them as a witness against them.
Most of
Chapter 32 is this
song of Moses. You may think it quite lengthy for them to memorize, but how many
songs do you know by heart? Not to mention that the Lord put it in their
hearts not to forget it!
HOLY
MOSES SONG LESSON WITH HOLY MOSES SONG EXPLANATION AND HOLY MOSES SONG
SUMMARY
The song begins by glorifying
the Lord, then gives a history of Israel and how God chose them and
nurtured His chosen people. From there, the words of the song are
prophecy of how the Hebrews would forget God and neglect His law,
and how the Lord's fierce anger and destruction of His people would be
the result. The end of the song, in harmony with the prophecy that Moses
previously spoke concerning Israel, tells of God's mercy on them and the
vengeance He will take on His enemies, who oppressed His people while
His face was turned and their souls were lost.
How can we apply this story
to our lives today? Take a look at how we as Christians treat those who have forsaken
God. Do we shun them? Do we ignore them? Do we fear their evil will make
us dirty? Have we forgotten something? ... Do we understand that
everyone is a child of God and some just get lost and need more help
than others to find their way back home? Just something to ponder on ...
Now back to our story.
That same day, the Lord told
Moses to go into Mt. Nebo to die, because he didn't give the glory to
God in front of the children of Israel when He brought water out of the
rock in Meribah (Numbers
20:11-13). God told told Moses that he would see the Promised Land
before him, but shall not go there.

AND HOLY MOSES SONG DISCUSSION
You might imagine that there
must have been some mixed emotions going on inside of Moses. Certainly
he wanted to experience the beauty and promise of the land that he
waited forty years to dwell in with the children of Israel, yet at the
same time, he was very old and had served the Lord valiantly ... Being
gathered to his people in God's favor was probably not such a bad
alternative. That's another good lesson we all should learn; it doesn't
matter where you are or what luxuries you have around you ... You come
here with nothing, and you leave with nothing, and everything in the
middle is temporal. Serving the Lord is laying up your treasure in
Heaven, and that's exactly what Moses did ... You can bet that the
emotion he is experiencing eternally, is one of joy.
