BIBLE VERSES MESSAGE
Glad you're back!
Your attendance here at
Daily Bread is always a
pleasure. In the last chapter, Moses began to tell the children of
Israel the things that will bring a curse upon those who don't live
according to God's law.
The
blessings are equally as wonderful as the curses are terrible, but
you'll notice that there is quite a list of curses in this chapter.
As
our intent at Daily read is not to re-write the Bible, but to help you
understand it better, it will suffice to say that this chapter speaks
for itself, really. In short, if you are obedient and love the Lord with
all your heart, you will receive the rewards of righteousness. If you
are disobedient and forsake the Lord, you will bring the rewards of
wickedness upon yourself. It's as simple as that.

AND DISOBEDIENCE BIBLE VERSES SUMMARY
The
Lord doesn't spare in giving details when it comes to describing the
curses that will overtake those of Israel that didn't listen to His
voice and obey His commandments. I'll give you a hint: Verses 1-14
describes the blessings for those who are obedient and verses 15-68
describe the curses for those who are not.
Wow! Why do you suppose there's such a difference?
Original sin and mankind's tendency to give in to temptation,
make it so very necessary to stress the consequences of evil more than the
rewards of good. Because mankind yearns for temporal pleasure rather
than eternal fulfillment, it causes many to stray from their faith, and
that makes it important to emphasize and even over emphasize what the
result will be of unrighteous choices and actions.
Don't
forget to give glory to God for loving us so much that He gave us the
New Testament, where Grace and Faith in Jesus Christ IS the law in our
hearts.

Matthew
9:13
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and
not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance. |

BIBLE VERSES MEANING AND DISOBEDIENCE BIBLE VERSES DISCUSSION
So,
if you're looking for equal lists of blessings that the righteous are
rewarded for doing good and curses that the wicked are rewarded for
doing evil, you probably won't find they are equal. In fact, there is
really only one reward that we should strive for, and that is eternal
life with our Lord. And all the warnings of the curses you find in the
Bible, are in hopes that nobody will ever experience them.
Don't
get me wrong now, this all doesn't mean that God was not merciful during
the times of the Old Testament. We will be finding out about His mercy
to the children of Israel a little more in Chapter 30.
Hurry
back again as we continue our study of the book of Deuteronomy and
another farewell address that Moses has for the children of Israel,
right here at Daily Bread.
